Where is my Home? – A children’s play

Mayakathalaya School of Drama presents:

“Where is my Home” ? Adapted from the play by D. M Bocaz Larson at Lamakaan on Saturday 11th Dec at 6:30pm

Synopsis:
The Bhopal Gas Tragedy can never be undone. Hopefully, it’s sacrifice will be remembered and not repeated. It is something each of us as Indians will remember for a very long time to come.

This play reminds us of our fragile environment and how industrial pollution near our cities can cause havoc and alter it beyond repair. A few animals left in the jungles surrounding Hyderabad talk about how industrial pollution has ruined their home and affected man as well.

Although, humorous in nature, this play still hopefully will help our children to see clearly what has been done. Maybe, in the best of all possible worlds, they will learn to avoid our mistakes.

Program is free and open for all.

Mahabharata of Women-A play by Nishumbita

MAHABHARATA OF WOMEN – The Play on 31ST October
We are often propelled by the thoughts that are born from our childhood memories, stories and experiences. Sometimes we see trickles of our past flowing down the passage of our present; finding similarities in whatever we see, hear or understand.
“The Mahabharata of Women” reflects this inherent human behaviour that drives into what we are, what we want to be and what becomes of us. Dr. K. Madhavane’s play perfectly weaves the thoughts and the fear of an old mother dogged with the memory of a curse pursuing the descendants of her family. She is so obsessed with the curse that every incident of her street and even the stories she had heard, now resembled the fashion of the curse. Thus dawns a new facet of India’s greatest Epic Drama “The Mahabharata”,
the facet that brings forth The Women of Mahabharata or rather The Mahabharata of Women. Making the Revered, Rich and Resonant Epic even greater in its being!

Torn Curtains presents ‘Behind the Bra’ on Sundays the 3rd and 10th of October 2010 at Lamakaan.
The latest project of The Torn Curtains is “Behind the Bra”, a play written by Nirati Agarwal, based on her interviews and research of the issues faced by breast cancer survivors.  The monologues and dialogues in this play express the emotions of women coming to terms with the realities of this dreaded condition. We feel that these issues are dominant not only in our society but globally.
“You see, on the night of the surgery, after all the lymphomas, the weeping, the questioning, after all the chemo, it was finally time I talked. It was time I spoke to my body……………….”
The Torn Curtains was established in 1971 by a group of people who were dedicated to making theatre an enjoyable, meaningful experience. The late Ramann Rao,a great Actor and Director of those times, the very versatile theatre and advertising personality Tony Mirchandani and the talented Mala Pasha took the Torn Curtains to great heights of popularity.
