The impartiality and fairness of Election Commission of India have been seriously questioned in recent time, be it its partisan conduct in the last Loksabha elections or the charges of EVM tampering. But the recent revelation made by Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and the Chief Election Commissioner’s ridiculous responses in a press conference have completely unmasked this institution. This issue is not just about vote theft in a few constituencies, it’s about our democratic right to have free, fair and impartial elections. This crucial democratic rights can be protected only if a mass movement on this issue is built.
It is to discuss these important questions that we are conducting our next discussion. All are cordially invited.

Every Wednesday evening this September, we celebrate the enigmatic genius of Michelangelo Antonioni with a curated selection of his most iconic films. From the haunting silences of *L’Avventura* to the visual poetry of *Blow-Up*, Antonioni’s work reshaped cinematic language—favoring mood, ambiguity, and existential depth over conventional storytelling. His films invite us to linger in the spaces between words, where alienation, desire, and modernity collide.

Born on September 29, 1912, in Ferrara, Italy, and passing away on July 30, 2007, in Rome, Antonioni left behind a legacy that continues to challenge and inspire filmmakers worldwide. He was the only director to win the Palme d'Or, Golden Lion, Golden Bear, and Golden Leopard, and received an Honorary Oscar in 1995 for his masterful visual style. His trilogy—*L’Avventura*, *La Notte*, and *L’Eclisse*—remains a cornerstone of modernist cinema, exploring the discontents of contemporary life with unmatched elegance and introspection.

A Tale to Begin With (82 mins) is an intimate documentary on Jayanta Mahapatra, India’s first major poet in English, capturing his final year in Cuttack and Odisha. Directed by Bishweshwar Das, the film weaves his journeys, reflections, and poetry into a lyrical portrait of the grand old bard of Indian literature.

Bio:
Bishweshwar Das, an adman turned filmmaker, makes his debut with A Tale to Begin With, a heartfelt tribute to poet Jayanta Mahapatra. Rooted in his love for Cuttack, cinema, and poetry, the film marks a full-circle moment in his creative journey.

Gopi is an invasion biologist working on freshwater ecosystems, using the African catfish as my model organism. This species, originally introduced for aquaculture, has now spread across India and is considered highly invasive and hence its sale and culture are banned. His research focuses on mapping its distribution, tracing its origins, and understanding how it adapts to new and often challenging environments. To do this, he uses molecular tools such as environmental DNA, population genetics, and genomics to explore the ecological and evolutionary processes of invasion.

An actor steps in to audition for the role of Hamlet, a part originally intended for a seasoned veteran who has suddenly walked out. With the cast assembled, the director’s vision in place, and rehearsals about to begin, one question remains— can this newcomer truly step into the character’s soul?
