Noon Meem Rashid’s last collection of poetry appeared in 1976 with the posthumous release of Gumān ka Mumkin. Nearly fifty years later comes Zindagi Se Darte Ho (Rajkamal Prakashan, 2025), a book compiled and edited by Amitabh Singh Baghel. It is the first published collection of Noon Meem Rashid’s nazms in Devanagari script, bringing his original poetic voice to Hindi readers for the first time in the form of a book.

Amitabh Singh Baghel is a literary curator known for creating distinctive platforms for literature, poetry and ideas. He is the Founder of the Nainital Literature Festival (2025), acclaimed in Condé Nast Traveller, The Week, The Print, and The Times of India for its thoughtful curation and wide resonance. He also founded the Aaghaz Poetry Movement, which brings Urdu and Hindustani verse to audiences worldwide. His debut book, Zindagi Se Darte Ho, was published by Rajkamal Prakashan in 2025. Earlier, he established the Koshala Literature Festival (2022) and he is the Festival Director of the inaugural Jindal Literature Festival (to debut in November 2025).

Youth uprising in Nepal: Implications for India

The historic Gen Z youth uprising in Nepal on 8-9 September has led to the collapse of the authoritarian capitalist regime of KP Sharma Oli. Subsequently an interim government has been formed. However, the future of the Himalayan nation remains uncertain. Despite the regime change, there are no signs of any systemic change in the offing. Several conspiracy theories are being peddled to explain this explosive uprising in our neighbouring country. Against this backdrop of chaos and confusion, there is a need to understand the actual reasons behind this unprecedented youth uprising in Nepal. Also, a discussion on the future possibilities in that country is the need of the hour. The question also arises as to what are the implications of this uprising for Indian ruling elites and the Indian people. It is on these questions that we plan to hold a discussion this time. All are cordially invited.

The Fifth Bench is a gripping psychological drama that delves into the fragile boundaries between reality and illusion. After a life-altering incident, a man begins treatment under the guidance of Dr. Vedha and Dr. Esther, who prescribe him a strict medication schedule — one tablet in the morning and one in the evening. But when he forgets to take his evening dose, his mind slips into a surreal world where two mysterious, imaginary characters emerge. As the lines between what's real and what isn't begin to blur, these figures attempt to guide him back to reality.

Will he find his way out of the illusion — or be trapped in it forever?

Surveillance cameras, locked gates, and elaborate defences cannot silence the echo of paranoia that grows within his mind.

As Franz isolates himself further, his relationships, career, and very sense of reality begin to unravel. The world outside, real or imagined, presses closer, and the burrow he built for safety becomes his suffocating cage.

Directed by Academy Award winner Jochen Alexander Freydank (Toyland), this chilling psychological drama explores themes of fear, surveillance, and the cost of self-imposed isolation in an age of constant watchfulness. The Worker is a darkly comic one-act play by Walter Wykes that explores the absurdities of modern work culture, gender roles, and human relationships. Through the sharp and witty exchanges between a husband, his wife, and a co-worker, the play examines the pressures of employment, the meaning of productivity, and the fragile boundaries between personal identity and professional obligation. Blending satire with a touch of the surreal, The Worker holds up a mirror to contemporary society—revealing how labor, routine, and conformity can consume the individual while leaving behind haunting questions about freedom, purpose, and connection.

Art and literature can be seen as extensions of the human mind. Very often they can reveal what lies within, sometimes visibly, and, sometimes, not quite so visibly. The movie club is (we hope) a fun way of looking deeper into the emotions, perceptions and thoughts that weave human relationships together or tear them apart. A movie may be treated as a true story or, alternatively, can be used as a tool to try and figure out what went on in the directors head when the movie was made. Either way, it’s a different way of understanding human behavior and relationships. In the end, by looking deeper into another’s story, we hope, perchance, to understand ourselves better.
